■Synopsis

A group called Badan plans to destroy Japan using a spacetime destruction system which can instantaneously annihilate everything. Badan killed Ryo Murasame’s sister and performed a transformation operation on Ryo. Ryo transforms into Masked Rider ZX to smash Badan’s plan.

■Comment on the drama

The Masked Rider ZX series is unique because although the manga series started in TV Magazine on July 1, 1982, and ZX photos appeared in other magazines, no TV series of ZX was produced.
　Masked Rider ZX was only introduced and only in a radio program, Shotaro Ishinomori’s All Night Nippon for celebration of the birth of the 10th Masked Rider, of Nippon Broadcasting System on August 14 and at the presentation of the name of 10th Masked Rider held in an amusement park, Mukogaokayuen, the following day, the 15th.
　Deserving special mention is a radio drama of the 10th Masked Rider broadcast during the All Night Nippon program. In the drama, Akira Kamiya, who played many roles in Ishinomori’s works, played the role of Ryo Murasame; Kiyoshi Kobayahi played the role of the Ambassador Darkness; Kosei Tomita narrated.
　The long-awaited appearance of ZX on TV finally occurred in 1984.

　ZX appeared in a special program called Genesis of the 10th Masked Rider! Come on all Masked Riders!! [Birth of the 10th! Masked Riders All Together!!] broadcast by Mainichi Broadcasting System and the Tokyo Broadcasting System network on January 3. Shun Sugata, who posed as Ryo Murasame in photographs for magazines, also played the role of Ryo Murasame. It was a grand program good for the new year; all of the Masked Riders, Hiroshi Miyauchi, Takehisa Yamaguchi and Shunsuke Takasugi appeared in the program and a voice recording of Takeshi Sasaki was played.
