The 1990s were without doubt the decade of Hotel. Serialized in Big Comic, this work exemplified the later years of Ishinomori. Even now, Ishimori Production still maintains this legacy and continues to publish Hotel in special issues of Big Comic. Hotel in TV dramas is also lasting for a long time. In Part 1, aired at the beginning of the nineties, workers at a huge hotel — Hotel Platon — dealt with all sorts of incidents occurring at the hotel with their friendship and unity. This is a high-grade drama for adults, with an impressive cast including Masanobu Takashima as Ippei Akagawa, Hiroki Matsukata as the manager, Todo, and Tetsuro Tanba as the owner. In this series, Jo Onodera — Ishinomori’s eldest son — played the role of Kitayama, Ippei’s senior bellboy. He created an upbeat mood among the hotel staff. Special episodes continued to be broadcast after the end of Hotel Part 5. The Hotel special broadcast in spring 2002, Hey Sister! I’m in Trouble!, was produced in the fourteenth anniversary year. Hotel became a drama of the nation. Without doubt, it became a work entirely appropriate as the drama of the nation.
